Dermatology

Dermatology - Acne
Acne occurs in skin that is oily and dirty with bacteria buildup and shedding dead cells. It can be embarrassing, painful and difficult to clear up.

We make topical compounds that include Salicyic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Clindamycin, Tretinoin, Tazarotene and Nicotinimide, mixed in proportions necessary to meet individual cases.Talk to your medical provider to discuss compounding as a treatment option. Or contact us to inquire about potential treatment strategies and cost.

Dermatology - Actinic Keratosis
Pre-malignant skin lesions that are identified as rough, tough, dry crusts or scales that may itch. They are most often found on areas that are exposed to sunlight, such as the face and arms, lips or bald scalp.

Our compounding pharmacy makes topical creams or gels which may aid in regression of AK lesions. Medications include Colchicine, Dexpanthenol, Diclofenac, Flourouracil, Hyaluronic Acid and Tretinoin. Talk to your medical provider to discuss compounding as a treatment option. Or contact us to inquire about potential treatment strategies and cost.

Dermatology - General Dermatology

Snell's Pharmacy can customize dermatological preparations which may improve therapeutic outcomes and reduce side effects. Compounding medications for dermatological diseases allows for:

  • unique delivery vehicles to be used (i.e. topical cream, scalp lotion, nail lacquer); which makes administering the medication easier and more pleasant
  • medicines based on individual need as prescribed by a physician
  • multiple medications sometimes can be combined

Dermatology - Genital Warts
Genital warts are one of the most common types of sexually transmitted diseases, affecting the moist tissues of the genital area. They may look like small, flesh-colored bumps or have a cauliflower-like appearance.

We have the ability to compound several topical medications that may help eradicate genital warts. These topicals would be easy to use, and custom made to meet individual needs. They might contain a combination of medications such as Green Tea Extract, Imiquimod or Podofilox. Talk to your medical provider about treatment strategies, or contact us for more information.

Dermatology - Nail Fungus
A fungal infection occurs as a white or yellow spot under fingernails or toenails. As it invades deeper into tissues, the nail becomes thick, discolored, crumbling, eventually turning black.

Nail fungus is not the same as athlete's foot fungus, although it can be transmitted from the same conditions of moist environment such as showers, pool areas, locker rooms and sweaty shoes.

Real eradication of fungal infection requires long-term oral medication that can have serious side effects. Topical compounds can be made which treat the infection topically (directly on the skin and nails) to aid in treatment.

Compounds can include natural tea tree oil, natural undecylenic acid, commonly used Clomitrazole, plus three medications which target nail fungus infection: Itraconozole, Ketoconozole and Terbinafine.

Talk to your medical provider to discuss compounding as a treatment option. Or contact us to inquire about potential treatment strategies and cost.

Dermatology - Warts
Warts are skin infections from the human papillomavirus (HPV) group. Warts thrive in warm, wet conditions such as showers, pool areas and sweaty shoes. They are quite contagious, so it is best to treat them immediately.

Common topical gel compounds may include Cimedtadine, Deoxy-D-Glucose (DDG), high potency Salicylic Acid and F-Flourouracil. Talk to your medical provider to discuss compounding as a treatment option. Or contact us to inquire about potential treatment strategies and cost.
